Hi, my name is Valery, and I’m a 20-year-old from Germany. For as long as I can remember, I’ve lived with strabismus and a lazy eye (amblyopia). It’s been a part of my life since birth, and for years, I struggled with the challenges it brought—double vision, difficulty focusing, and the constant self-consciousness that came with it. But today, I want to share how my life changed when I discovered Equal-Eyes and their VR vision therapy.
It all started about three years ago. My double vision, or diplopia, had gotten worse. Simple tasks like reading, watching TV, or even walking down the street became exhausting. I felt like I was constantly fighting my own eyes to see clearly. Frustrated and desperate for a solution, I turned to the internet. That’s when I stumbled upon the Equal-Eyes' diplopia test online available in one of its blogs.
I remember scrolling through their page, reading about how their VR vision therapy could help treat binocular vision disorders like mine. The idea of using virtual reality to train my eyes sounded futuristic and exciting. I was intrigued by the concept of a non-invasive, technology-based solution that could be done right from home. After reading testimonials and learning about the science behind it, I felt a spark of hope—maybe this could work for me.
I immediately brought it up to my parents. At first, they were skeptical. They’d tried so many things over the years—eye patches, glasses, even surgery—and nothing had fully resolved my lazy eye. But I was determined. I showed them the Equal-Eyes website, explained how the VR therapy worked, and convinced them to give it a try. They agreed, and soon after, we purchased the Equal-Eyes VR Vision Therapy app for my Samsung Galaxy.
The first few weeks were an adjustment. The exercises were challenging, and I had to commit to using the app regularly. But I was motivated. I followed the program diligently, spending time each day working on my binocular vision. The VR experience was unlike anything I’d tried before. It felt like a game, but I could tell it was doing something—my eyes were being challenged in new ways, and I started to notice small improvements.
Over time, those small improvements added up. My double vision became less frequent, and I could focus on objects without straining. My lazy eye, which had always felt like a lost cause, started to strengthen. It was incredible to see how my brain and eyes were learning to work together again.
Three years later, I can confidently say that Equal-Eyes has changed my life. My lazy eye is gone, and my binocular vision is stronger than ever. I no longer feel limited by my eyesight. I can read, watch movies, and even drive without the constant struggle I used to face.
Looking back, I’m so grateful I found Equal-Eyes when I did. It gave me a solution when I thought there was none, and it empowered me to take control of my vision. If you’re someone dealing with strabismus, lazy eye, or any binocular vision disorder, I encourage you to explore VR vision therapy. It might just change your life, like it did for me.
Thank you for reading my story. If you have any questions about my journey, feel free to reach out. And to the team at Equal-Eyes—thank you for creating something that has made such a difference in my life.
With gratitude,
Valery
